Student Bean Bags

Is your son or daughter off to college for the first time this year? Maybe they’re staying in rented accommodation or spending their first year in halls of residence as is the case for many fledgling students.
Many student houses and rooms come “fully furnished” but are rarely furnished with comfort in mind, just the basics; a cheap sofa, cheap single bed and a coffee table if you’re lucky.
Tips on Filling a Beanbag
Filling a bean bag with the polystyrene filling can sometimes be a real chore. Here are a few handy tips to help when filling a new one or topping up an old one:
– Have a friend to help you. Filling a bean bag can be really difficult on your own. If you’ve ever tried it, chances are you’ve got beans everywhere except inside the cover. Have a chum hold the bag open while you add the beans.
– Don’t overfill it. Unless you like your seating to be really stiff, leave a bit of air space in the cover. Once you’re done filling, give it a trial run and top up as necassary until its as firm or soft as you like it.
– For a child’s bean bag, if they are likely to jump around on it, use a re-usable liner inside the case. Although not quite as comfortable as sitting on one without the liner, they’ll have less chance of splitting the liner and getting the filling all over the place.
– Cover the floor. Before you start pouring filling into the cover, put down a sheet or bin liner on the floor to catch any strays. At least then if you do make any spillages you can pick them all up in the sheet and tip into the cover rather than them ending up all over the house (you’ll still be finding them in months).
Why Buy a Bean Bag Pet Bed?
We all know that a dog is Man’s best friend and cats, well, they’re ok too, but why buy your best friend a nice bean bed? Here are a few reasons:
Comfort – There’s nothing quite as comfortable as a bean bed. Yes, foam mattresses are all well and good but they do not mould to your dog’s frame the way a bean bag will. Your four legged friend will sleep better on a comfortable bed and will (hopefully) be better behaved after a good night’s sleep. Older dogs with stiff joints will enjoy the support that only a polystyrene bead filled bed can provide.
A place to call their own – Some pet owners are only too happy to have their pets sleep on the master bed, some on the other hand are not. If you are one of the latter, give your pet somewhere to feel at home. Once trained to sleep in their own bed they will be less likely to want to join you in bed on those cold winter nights. Dogs like somewhere warm, preferrably near their masters. The foot of a bed or near a radiator is good. For cats, try placing the bed in a cosy corner, under a table, near a radiator, on a sunny window sill or on top of a wardrobe or other furniture (provided they can jump high enough), cats like to sleep somewhere warm, away from prying eyes.
